Threading Silence, 2023, 15min
Threading Silence is drawn from Isabel’s first encounter with the concept of loss through the death of an unmet uncle. Why is it so hard to grieve, and why is it so hard to love? The film explores the way state policies shape the way grief is processed and perceived. Combining personal archival footage in Singapore, interviews with her parents and grandmother, and footage from Isabel’s life, this film pieces together a personal story on processing grief.
